6 sound sequences, video HD, 2010
6 sound sequences is a film about what the camera capture when it is placed there. Only a few birds, bystanders, or smoke in the distance, come to disturb the tranquility of these 6 still shots. The glance is blocked by a wall, a pile of snow, or the lens blur. Suspended in between the near and far. Here, what there is to see, it is not what’s in front of the camera, but what’s behind it : that which is off-camera. It’s a film to listen to, where images are told by the sounds. Sounds that tell us the children playing nearby, a park, and the murmur of the city around it. This film with its endless inactivity, with its total lack of narration, and the duration of his plans, puts to the tests our capacity for attention, so that we see the image of a space in its real duration.
