Sophie Vanhomwegen (°1988, Brussel) completed a Master in Fine Arts in 2011 at the Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten in Ghent and prolonged her studies with a postgraduate program in Transmedia in Brussels. While there she explored and developed work consisting mainly of collages, films and audiovisual installations.
In her work she questions the credibility of images and is interested in how far images shape our conception of reality. What is directed in an image or in a film and what is not? What is controlled and what is not? Her work can be described as an audiovisual investigation on the fading borders between reality and artifice.
