INNER – OUTER is a workshop in the frame of Tuned City Brussels, which will be co-organised between January and June 2013 by Q-O2 workspace. The project is researching the relation between sound and space, both architectural and public.
Besides this workshop there will be the possibility for Transmedia students to attend various lectures, a workshop week shared with students from other art schools from the 23rd to the 29th of March and to make a proposal for the realisation of an artistic work in the Tuned City festival from the 27th to the 30th of June.

INNER – OUTER will start with an observation session around the site of Transmedia, exploring different methods (active/passive, stationary/moving, recording, verbal, using different catalysers..), with a particular interest to sound. What can be the symbolic of a sound, what is behind it, what are its cultural, historical, social derives?
In a second phase some of the observations aspects will be isolated and interpreted into an other form or medium, to come in a third step individually to a realisation or concept which stands on its own in an existing urban context.
Central questions in the workshop will be the relation between inner and outer sound world, which can be on a human, spacial, metaphoric level, and the choice of a place for an artistic intervention which should go beyond the decorative aspect and will have consequences in the choice of tools and materials.
