(soundart exposition & soundwalks)
Sounding City is a leading project for international sound art. The twilight zone in which visual art, sound and music come together.
In 2013, sound artists David Helbich & Christina Kubisch, in cooperation with Tourism Kortrijk, start working on the first two sound walks in the city. Jitske Blom & Thomas Rutgers, Signe Líden and Pascal Broccolichi present their new creations in the frame of the European Resonance network. Together with Arts Centre Buda, we present the magnificent installation Top Shot by Thierry De Mey. And on the occasion of Heritage Day and the restoration of the historic décors of the Theatre of Kortrijk you are invited to come and view Bruno Forment’s electro-acoustic installation during the opening of Klinkende Stad.
Come and join us on a journey into the wonderful world of sound art.
Transmedia is the post-Master training at the Hogeschool Luca, a department of Sint-Lukas Brussels. The programme encourages artistic creation through research. It welcomes students from a variety of disciplines and a host of local and foreign teachers. ‘Cities of Sound’ forms part of their curriculum. Festival director Joost Fonteyne coordinates the project and immerses students into the world of urban sound; specific focus is given to the application of sound in the artistic practice. This project has yielded three different sound systems, created by students Amanda Andersen (BR), Peter Kufner (HR) and Alexander Landa (RU). Discover them during Festival Kortrijk 2013.
